THE NERDS TO HEADLINE MUSIC FEST PRINCETON, COMING TO PALMER SQUARE THIS SEPTEMBER.
Two stages, six bands, and music lovers from the tri-state area will take over the Square on Sunday, September 16th.
Princeton, NJ, June 26, 2018– The first annual Music Fest Princeton will take place on Palmer Square on September 16, 2018.
A unique musical line up featuring folk, jazz, Irish, rock and country bands is sure to appeal to audiences of eclectic tastes. The family friendly festival will be host to two stages, food and beverage vendors, retail offerings and activity tables from around Palmer Square.
This event will replace the long standing JazzFeast. Twenty-six years in the making, JazzFeast will forever be remembered as a local favorite. “We hope to build upon the successes of the event as we broaden the musical offerings and open Music Fest to fans who enjoy all types of live music,” said Jamie Volkert, Director of Marketing for Palmer Square. “As tribute to our Jazz roots the main stage will open with Swingadelic, A Jazz Swing band out of New York City,” she said. Palmer Square’s partnership with the Jersey Jazz Society will remain intact for this event.
The Shanty’s, an Irish folk band out of Philadelphia, will play the mid-day set on the main stage. They take pride in keeping alive the musical traditions and songs of their heritage and never play from a formal set list. Come with your requests, as this fan friendly band enjoys playing for an interactive audience!
Jersey shore icons, The Nerds will headline the event. The Nerds (Spaz, Mongo, Biff, and Stretch) are America’s Party Band Fun-omenon! Since forming in 1985, the band has wowed audiences from their home state of New Jersey all the way to the Bahamas. They have performed on shows like The View and Last Call with Carson Daly and were named the house band for MTV’s ‘Ultimate Cover Band Contest.’ They have played many celebrity-hosted events and have provided entertainment for countless corporate clients including Microsoft, Google, Merrill Lynch, and pharma companies throughout the Princeton Corridor. The Nerds have shared the stage with some of music’s biggest acts – including Sheryl Crow, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Train – and have performed for a number of prominent political figures. Every so often, you may even catch a famous fan like Jon Bon Jovi, David Bryan, or Dickie Betts joining them on stage for a couple songs!
Our side stage will feature local musicians such as Sean Yocum, Some Assembly Required, and others to be announced.
