Princeton University Art Museum Adds New Retail Location
on Nassau Street in Historic Downtown Princeton
Grand Opening on Friday, November 29th Celebrating the Visual Arts
and Artists in the Local and Regional Princeton Community
The Princeton University Art Museum will open a new, second location of its Museum Store on Palmer Square in support of its mission of bringing the visual arts to the local and regional communities.
Located at 56 Nassau Street, the new Museum Store will feature a variety of handcrafted offerings from regional artisans, as well as items related to the Museum’s collections and current exhibitions. Proceeds from the Store will support the more than 275 programs the Museum offers each year, including gallery teaching programs for over 10,000 primary and secondary schoolchildren annually.
“The Museum Store seeks to deepen and extend the visitor experience of the Princeton University Art Museum, and provide visitors with opportunities to live with great design,” said Museum Director James Steward. “Our new location on Nassau Street allows us to extend this mission to greater numbers of visitors to our community.”
The new Museum Store represents the Museum’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and to the vitality of downtown Princeton. It also complements the opening of Art@Bainbridge, a contemporary gallery project that opened in September in historic Bainbridge House at 158 Nassau Street.
About the Princeton University Art Museum Store
The Museum Store features original work by regional artisans in many media, including glass, ceramic, wood, textile, metal, and alternative materials, and jewelry. The Store also offers a fine selection of publications related to the Museum’s current exhibitions and its globe-spanning collections. Proceeds support the Museum’s core mission of bringing art into everyday life through fostering close and sustained looking, rich interpretive experiences, and educational programming.

The Princeton University Art Museum is located at the heart of the Princeton campus, a short walk from the shops and restaurants of Nassau Street. Admission is free. Museum hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum is closed Mondays and major holidays. https://artmuseum.princeton.edu
Art@Bainbridge, the Museum’s new gallery project dedicated to emerging contemporary artists, is located at 158 Nassau Street in downtown Princeton. Admission is free. Art@Bainbridge hours are Sunday to Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
